A new trend in maternity sessions: gender reveal parties!
- I have got to get in on this fun! I almost want to have a fourth child just so I can have one of these photoshoots myself!
This is how it goes, in case you are not familiar with this newest trend: Instead of finding out the sex/gender of your baby at the actual ultrasound appointment, you instead delay finding out and share the big news with your whole family at a gender reveal party. The tech writes down the sex on a slip of paper and seals it in an envelope. You give the sealed envelope to your bakery and they bake a cake that is either pink or blue inside. Your friends and family come to the party, it’s all decorated and festive. Guests sometimes wear “team pink” or “team blue” shirts,and it seems like a lot of fun! Then everyone finds out together when you cut the cake! - Details: My regular maternity session rates are $250 when added on to a newborn session. For this special offer, the cost would be $400 (plus tax) and that would include photographic coverage of your gender reveal party AND a newborn session (with digital files from both sessions). Yikes! That’s a drastic savings of $350!
Similar, with a twist: gender reveal photoshoots:
- The idea for this photoshoot also involves revealing the sex/gender at the actual session. Except in this case it is just your immediate family (or your husband if you do not have any other kids), and it’s within the context of a family photo session. I have seen it done with a release of colored balloons from a sealed box with “boy or girl?” on the outside of the box. This works out really well if you have other children, because they can participate in opening up the box and will get a kick out of all the balloons being released into the air (of course the balloons are pink if you’re having a girl or blue for a boy).
- Details: Same as the above cake party offer: $400 for the gender reveal photo session AND a newborn session. That is the session fee, plus digital files. It’s insane! Grab it up before the offer is gone!
Birth Photography:
It has been a rough road trying to get birth photography to become more popular in New Jersey. As far as I know, I am still the only person that is actually offering it. I have been offering it for two years, but not many people actually go all the way through with comitting to it. For 2012 it is available at an extremely discounted rate of just $300, just to see if I can get the ball rolling again and if there is any interest in it at all!
