What a great summer this was, just a few days left before the kids go back to school! I can’t believe it. This session was just four days prior to Hurricane Irene and three days before the governor said “Get the h** off the beach in Asbury Park!” I just think that’s so funny since that is where we were. I love the rocks and the moss, it looks like we’re in California!

I took  my kids over to the beach area tonight. We were supposed to be headed to the bay side so that I could practice taking pictures in the sunset, but then we spotted all of these kites in the sky and had to stop there first!

We were all so excited about this, it was almost as much fun as watching the hot air balloons go up into the sky. Actually, this might have been more fun because you could play on the beach! They have it every Wednesday night throughout the summer. It was really fun to see, and I definitely recommend stopping by to see this for yourself if you live locally. You can also (of course) bring your own kites to fly.

Remember…it’s Seaside Park, not Seaside Heights! It’s south of the boardwalk :)

I’m in the process of editing the session that I did a sneak peek of below…and this one is just so sweet! Editing is funny that way…I don’t really know what I have captured until I get home and look through them all on a larger screen. These are the kind of moments I love to capture, the kind you’ll treasure when your babies are all grown up :)

This session was for a fellow NJ photographer and her family on during their vaction in Ocean City. It was so great to meet up with her finally, after following and admiring her work for about a year now. She has the cutest twin girls and it was nice to just see them all being themselves and enjoying their time together. She specifically wanted candid/lifestyle pictures, and nothing overly posed or arranged. Here is your little preview Lena, can’t wait to meet up with you again in the fall :)

I have been wanting to offer outdoor newborn sessions (for the warm months) and this daring couple was willing to offer up their baby girl as a “trial” run for my first attempt at doing a newborn session at the beach. I had a lot of worries going into this session, mostly about finding a private spot and also about the unpredictable wind. It turns out the spot I found was really great, but the wind was not on our side today. Live and learn!

She was such a sweet little doll, just six days old today. Thank you so much J&D for sharing your new sweetie with me and braving the elements of the beach.

And by the end it was just too windy to even attempt to reveal any skin, so we just kept her bundled up in her own blanket…she’s still cute! :)
